Acne prone skin and makeup?

Am i doomed to have rough looking makeup forever due to my acne prone skin and acne marks? I have been dealing with acne for a decade (literally) and i have finally found ways to wear makeup to feel prettier, but sometimes my foundation doesn't look right. I have a combination of problems with my skin actually but i try to make the best of it and treat it right. Please no recommendations for acne products, and don't tell me to go to the derm because i have tried it all. I just want to know will my foundation look rough and weird as long as i have these skin problems underneath (large pores, acne, acne marks) or are there ways for a smoother look. I have tries primer as well. What gives you all the best flawless finish foundation?
