Experiencing lag with the Logitech QuickCam Communicate STX?

Okay, I've been playing around with all the settings and stuff, I've turned off the lighting options which usually make it lag, but it's still not wotking properly. When I view it normally when not recording or anything, it looks fine. But when I use it on MSN, it lags, it barely moves for me, but my friend says it only lags a little bit for him, although maybe he's just saying that so I'll stay on cam haha. Any ideas as to what I could do to make it run more smoothly?
