For my black sisters... what the best way to deal with natural hair?

ok im currently going though of the transition from permed or straighten hair to natural hair... only thing is my natural hair seems to always be on the dry side and living in new orleans doesn't help either. do ya have any tips on how i can keep my hair from being so dry ... if it helps im creole so my hair isn't course its more of a medium grain and its curly but not
