Why do Hindus and Christians have out of body experiences aligning with their own religion?

Because religion is a social phenomenon. It cannot exist without society. Our religious experiences are totally influenced by the society which we identify with. Even a hermit who has renounced society will have religious experiences that have roots in the very society it gave up.
