Can you wear gles over contacts?

im 16 and my eyes are really bad. i dont know the numbers but i am really nearsighted. it seems like it keeps getting worse and worse. i want to wear contacts but the doctor said since my degree is so bad, the contact lenses wont be as sharp as wearing gles. gles lenses are really thick from the side even with the special thin kinds. so can i wear both at the same time so my gles wont look as thick?
